ART & CULTURE | Rebecca Horn: Passage Through Light Rebecca Horn has been working with various media simultaneously for some time – drawing, sculpture, installation, kinetics, photography, performance, action, video, film, and text. The interlacing of sculpture and film constitutes a main factor in the work of Rebecca Horn. The installations, objects and films tell a story which knows no linear line. It is based on emotionally charged text sequences that are spoken in the film while, at the same time, they accompany the objects of the exhibition as a poetic text. Her invented objects play a double role in the film in that they reflect and interpret the story described in the film scenes. For the exhibition in India, Rebecca Horn has created a special installation in response to her own understanding and engagement with the country. It is against this back-drop that Thozhurraises an array of pertinent questions — is this ‘celebration’? Playing on the very obvious pun, the series is an attempt to unravel the ‘plot’, excavate answers and trace paradoxes through media best suited for their articulation, thereby re-discovering a route that would lead back to the heart of the creative process. It traces a trajectory that moves from the realm of active, collective experience to its absorption into language, in an attempt to dissolve the estrangement between the two.
Rebecca Horn: Passage Through Light

Rebecca Horn has been working with various media simultaneously for some time – drawing, sculpture, installation, kinetics, photography, performance, action, video, film, and text.

It is against this back-drop that Thozhur
raises an array of pertinent questions — is this ‘celebration’? Playing on the very obvious pun, the series is an attempt to unravel the ‘plot’, excavate answers and trace paradoxes through media best suited for their articulation, thereby re-discovering a route that would lead back to the heart of the creative process. It traces a trajectory that moves from the realm of active, collective experience to its absorption into language, in an attempt to dissolve the estrangement between the two.
