Mother’s Day is almost here! And while we laugh at most “Hallmark Holidays”, this one’s super special because it celebrates the person who handles all our tantrums, comforts us when we’re down and out, and is possibly one of the only people who will love us unconditionally. The key to making this day amazing for her is personalizing everything.

There’s a mix of budget buys {Love is Free!}, pricey purchases {swipe the card} as well as medium range options {Spend the bonus}. And for those short on time, we’ve given options for purchases off the world wide web :) So get up, get out and get shopping with these exclusive tried & tested finds for your moms!

SHREA | Hauz Khas Village | Custom Tops/Dresses/Pants

Owned by designer Shreya Sharma, I’ve been getting custom-made tops from Shrea for a while now and I swear by her aesthetic. What I love about her is that she’s understanding of others’ style and doesn’t impose her designs on you. Case in point, myself- I’m not overly experimental with my wardrobe and the shirts I wear are always easy, breezy and flowey. So when I approached Shreya to make shirts for me, she stuck to what I had in mind but added her own touch to it. My tunic was given this stunning two tone dye, and a slight lace detail on the shoulders, and my sequin shirt was given a thin strip of Indian orange running through the center.

If your mum has an eye for detail, reveres quality & design, book your appointment with Shrea for something bespoke!

{Apologies for the photoshopped image- but here’s the sequin top Shreya made for me}

{PS: She also has a super ready to wear line, so while ordering something for your mom, you can make a little purchase for yourself}

COLLAGE | Frame it at Capital Art Gallery

This really is the simplest and sweetest gesture. If you have a younger sibling, then even better because you can make them do all the cutting and pasting :) It’s super easy- buy chart paper, glitter, and glue from a nearby stationary store. Pull out your old photo albums and collect 15-20 pictures of your mom- from family holidays to birthday parties, pictures from her childhood even and paste them on the chart paper. Dress it up with some color and add personal messages to each picture. Drop it off  for framing and you’re good to go! {we recommend Capital Art Gallery, but whatever’s closest to your house works! }

How Much | Love is Free, only framing comes with a price tag.

DECORATE HER ROOM | Fusion Balloons

My earliest childhood memory takes me back to India Gate. My mom would buy me dozens of balloons in all shapes and sizes to keep me entertained. Taking it a notch higher, I revisit those memories by giving my mom a set of ‘Fusion Balloons’ with all sorts of fun messages on them and in a bunch of different shapes- from champagne bottles to crowns, cupcakes et all. They also do custom balloons!

Check out their collection here:, place your order & they’ll deliver it to your doorstep!

How Much | A bouquet costs around 1500 inr depending on the size of the balloon. This is super duper affordable!

You know you’re a true Dilliwaala when your idea of celebrating anything begins and ends with food. And Mother’s Day should be no exception. While the most convenient {if you’re as inadept at cooking/baking as I am, reckon you stick to convenience} thing to do is take her to her favourite restaurant, if you’re looking at switching it up, here’s what we recommend:

- Evening picnic at Lodhi Garden | The setting is beautiful- surrounded by Delhi’s oldest monuments, well-manicured gardens and that it’s situated in the heart of Delhi makes it an ideal spot for a laid-back evening with the family. Though it gets crowded on Sundays, there are umpteen spots of clean grass to pull out your mats, lay your food for the evening and enjoy a languid Sunday afternoon with the folks. PS: You can order a custom picnic basket from

- Cupcakes & More | While cupcakes are the fad these days, make sure you get bespoke icing on them for Mothers Day. Kishi Arora of Foodaholics does some mouth-watering double chocolate cupcakes with personalized messages on them. You can order from her at 09873164293. If you’re willing to pick up something fabulous from around town for your mums, then contact Ambrosia {Ritu Gupta} 9810088626 for delicious fruit tarts, or Uni Vaid at 09818433448 for the yummiest cheesecakes. Make sure your mom digs in to her favourite dessert :)

- Put on your Chef’s Hat | If you can put together a meal without burning down your house, cook something fantastic for your mum! A great place to get recipes from:

  • facebook group called Foodie by Nature:
  • and our ‘Eat’ section which has recipes from Yeti, Amici, Foodaholics & Chef Deep Bajaj {from the Oberoi Patisserie}.

FOR THE WORKING SON/DAUGHTER | has an entire section on their page dedicated to gifting ideas for Mother’s Day and I just bought these two products for my mum {hope she isn’t reading this!}. You have an array of products, accessories, clothes & decor items to choose from, so you don’t need to stress about your mum fitting into a top or liking the colour.  If you’re caught up with work, place an order online and you’ll get a beautifully packaged box with goodies for Mother’s Day. How much, you ask? There’s something for every budget.

{Here’s what I ordered from, and its reached me already! Just in time for a pre-Mother’s Day surprise}

If you’re looking at swiping the card, try I really like the Gaurav Gupta tunic and the lovetobag clutch {which, ladies, you can borrow from time to time :) }

Whatever you do, whatever your budget, make it special :) Enjoy, Dilliwaalas!
