This week we’re featuring an alternative/progressive act from Mumbai, Goddess Gagged. The band has gone from strength to strength garnering a considerable following in native Mumbai, roping people in with their highly atmospheric tracks, polished with some intricate guitar work and superb vocals delivered by their frontman Siddharth Basrur. The intro of this track induces a clam trance with moody atmospherics worthy of dark nights of solitude and introspection aptly  captured by the title of the song ‘Dreamer’. While some of their other tracks have a heavier and edgier feel to them, it is perhaps with this sound that the band seems to enter its ‘domain’, as it seems to reflect the best blend of the sounds of 90’s rock and the prog-kings such as Karnivool, Porcupine Tree and the like, that have engendered their sound. Their album ‘Resurfaces’ features some nifty artwork as well.

They’ve played at a number of local venues in Mumbai such as Hard Rock, Blue Frog, B69 and played a set at the mega-festival, NH7 Weekender. Dilliwalas can catch Goddess Gagged in action on the 21st@Escape to Zorba.
