All About Soulful Sundays | Rizwan and Muazzam {Coke Studio Pakistan}
Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali {Rizwan and Muazzam – Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s nephews}, perform in the traditional Qawwali style – sitting on the ground rather than on seats – which they believe brings them closer to God. Last year, the intensity of their songs and stage performance led one commentator, only half-jokingly, to call them “the Qawwali Clash.” They were a part of the famous episodes of Coke studio Pakistan and their episode was among the most acclaimed by music lovers all over the world.

In the loop with Ditty and Mark | An evening of music
Aditi Veena and Mark Aranha don’t merely want to make some noise, dazzle or get too clever or technical. They want the word and the voice to speak for themselves, gently coaxed along by guitars, matchbox shakers and breathy trumpet lines swelling and passing by like the infrequent car after a spell of rain; more like an understated mix of jazz, RnB, Latin and adult contemporary with a hint of finger-style guitar rolled into an assured set of poetic musings. In their young career, Ditty & Mark have thus far featured in the Tehelka Music Project, the Escape Festival, Clonefest, BlueFROG and currently have their single “Moonlighters” getting airtime on HIT95 FM.

{FILMS}
Michaelangelo Antonioni was an Italian filmmaker at the crest of several movements- Italian neorealism, French New Wave- but he created his own special style. La Notte {The Night} probably best expresses his vision. It is a dreamlike film, its landscape filled with decadent people and their dysfunctional relationships. Somehow it picks up on the vacancy of the soul that characterizes humankind at times, perhaps when we have too much of the material and no sense of belonging to anything bigger than ourselves. The plot meanders through the lives of an unhappily married couple on one mad, wild night of sadness disguised as revelry, and is riveting in its skillful storytelling. It stars the biggest Italian stars of the time, Marcello Mastroianni, Jeanne Moreau, and Monica Vitti.
