If you can’t differentiate a glass of Chardonnay from a Sauvignon Blanc, don’t worry because you aren’t the only one! We often tend to drift away from wines as we take it to be too technical a drink….. and then there are always those who just swig it like any other beverage.
Chardonnay | Ladies, Think Little Black Dress. Gentlemen, this is your equivalent to a well-fitted suit
Chardonnay is known as the chameleon of grapes; a grape variety that many producers can’t do without, for it bows to the whim of the winemaker because of its ability to adapt to different regions and provide diverse styles. You can find it in almost every wine producing region. Considered as a synonym for dry white wines, this popular wine comes within a range of prices. Come to think of it, it blends perfectly as the much need black outfit that no {wine} wardrobe can do without. Think of it as that thumping feature of any wardrobe that both genders can’t do without. If this doesn’t do it for you, wine astrology hints that you shift to the below “wine” shine.
Sauvignon Blanc | Keep it simple, silly
The simplicity and straightforwardness is what distinguishes Sauvignon Blanc. Similar to those who believe in what they stand and have clear distinctive thoughts, this grape doesn’t shy away but holds its ground for what it is. Through the course of time, this grape has retorted to its critics by producing some of the most palatable and refreshing wines with a distinct perfume displaying uninhibited ripe fruit flavors.
Semillon | Sensual Seduction
This one just loves to get ‘Sunburn-t’; the grape variety loves to bring out its sensual side under warm conditions. Such a personality can lure and entice you with its caramalised structure, sweet fruit and floral touch, and dazzle you with an extra topping of honey and nuts. It’s ideal for those who can relate to elegance, grandeur, grace and yet be seductive and lustrous. The grapes acquire a goldenish ting when they mature. Think zesty and unctuous, complex yet defined and balanced.
Riesling | Do it like a Boss! {Think Ari Gold}
A versatile performer, ostentatious yet modest, and above all- a charmer! It changes and manages its characters in different working conditions. From bone dry to sweet, its exuberance and calibre can be felt fairly well across all its styles. Many of their counterparts roll their eyes when they see them. Once you get a taste of a personality as distinctive as a Riesling, you just cannot forget them easily.
Cabernet Sauvignon | Clint Eastwood in The Good, Bad and The Ugly
Some love its matured charm while some maintain their distance from its gigantic personality. But those who stick around long enough never resort to anything else. Put colloquially- it’s the marijuana of the reds, and everyone wants a drag. The producers swear by it and love it beyond any other grape known to mankind. And as they say- the show must go on, and so does the wine. Shelf it in the cellar and forget it for decades, only to come back and be surprised by how it matures and still holds its charm. It’s a gentlemen’s drink which impresses at all times and never lets the show down.
Nebbiolo | Oh you fancy, huh?
The first thing that ricochets in the mind is the fact that this grape hails from a country where fashion, food and lifestyle rate as top priorities. In close proximity to the fashion hub, it grabs the spotlight from all other regions and grape varieties and puts Piedmont as a forerunner and as the face of Italian wines around the globe. Clearly representing a Page 3 person or a P3 aficionado who loves to take control, mesmerize the crowd and wants to be the trend setter. For someone who doesn’t spare a whisk of limelight.
Shiraz | Lord of the Rings
Is your comfort zone nothing below than donning the words such as nobility and majesty? These two words suggest an illustrious legacy, full of richness, power and refinement. They beckon adoration & appreciation for decades to come. And the way a king never loses his charm and charisma even when in captivity, some of the wines made from Shiraz/Syrah keep aging even in a closed bottle and when uncorked you can be assured of being enraptured under its command.
