Bursting through in the short span of a year, this liquid/ambient drum & bass artist has certainly garnered a following in his native Mumbai as well as in Delhi where he recently played at Escape to Zorba in March. Aditya Ashok, previously drummer of Rosemary, focusses on building a frenetic energy with his well-laid and crunchy beats, overlaid with melodious sonic layers. His set at Zorba began with an ambient feel, drawing the listener with melody’s bursting through creating an upbeat vibe that slowly transcended into a frenetic pace. For all those avid followers of artists such as Netsky, Danny Byrd, deadmau5 this artist would be a must listen desi variant. Also for all those aspiring electronic musicians he would be a fantastic example, as he is a self-taught, and he puts it best in his own words, ”There’s no innate skill involved in quality drum and bass production beyond a surge of all nighters and dying city lights.”
